Word Search Now Available on Kindle

Posted: 12 Feb 2011 11:59 AM PST

Amazon is coming out with new games for the Kindle at a rapid pace, last week they announced Video Poker, and today Word Search comes out.

This classic game is a staple for many word lovers and it stays true to name in the Kindle version. You simply use the dial buttons on the bottom of the Amazon digital reader to cross off found words.

Locate and mark off words in the grid using the 5 way controller. Each word appears in a straight line, horizontally, vertically or diagonally in the grid – but be careful, sometimes the words are backwards! Play at your own pace or against the clock and see who can get the fastest time for each puzzle. Pause partway through a puzzle and return to where you left it. You can reset each puzzle and try it again as many times as you like. If you get stuck on a more challenging puzzle then you can give up and see the correct solution.

Fun for all ages, with categories from Animals to Best Movie Oscar, there are 50 themed 13×13 puzzles included in Volume 1 covering a wide variety of subjects. People who like puzzles and word games will enjoy playing this fun game on Kindle.

7 Ways To Enjoy An Eco Valentine’s Day

Posted: 12 Feb 2011 11:57 AM PST

faux chicken legs from karyns on green in chicago

(faux-chicken legs from Karyn’s on Green in Chicago)

Monday is Valentine’s Day and many will be out and about getting gifts for their respective sweetie and or making dinner plans.

This year why not try an eco friendly version of the traditional gift and or meal and put our planet abit more at ease. ABC 7 Chicago has come out with seven simple but fun ideas you can try, to make this V-day more green than red.

ABC 7 suggests you try:

1. Save the trees
Use Valentine’s Day cards made from recycled paper for a hand-written love note. The Chicago non-profit Womancraft created a stationary. The group trains at-risk and homeless women to make cards from recycled paper and reclaimed flower petals. These cards are also plant-able and will grow into gorgeous wildflowers.

2. Give pesticide-free organic roses
Buy organic roses, for example from Whole Foods Market, which come from the first USDA-certified organic farm in the world. A dozen roses cost about $17.99, and they’ll gift-wrap them for free.

Also, Whole Foods Market is a great place pick up some fair trade, organic chocolates and a bottle of organic wine to enjoy at home

3. Give Eco-Friendly Lingerie
Why should the men have all the fun? Ladies, pick up a pair of fun underwear for your beau. Junk Drawers makes underwear from reclaimed remnant fabrics that would otherwise end up in a landfill. The best part: they are designed to be unisex, and colorful enough to be a swimsuit bottom, so you can pick up a pair for yourself, too!

For the complete list, head on over to the ABC 7 Chicago website.

Volivik Recycled Bic Pens Chandelier

Posted: 12 Feb 2011 11:12 AM PST

Imagine a chandelier made with hundreds of recycled pens and turned into a one-a-kind work of art.

That is the case with the Volivik recycled Bic pens chandelier. Over 300 Bic pens make up this unique and clever lamp that would dazzle any home or apartment.

This unique Volivik chandelier made from used bic pens elevates the common writing utensil into an illuminating work of art. Pieced together by enPieza, a Madrid-based design studio, the sweeping chandelier pays homage to “the movement of Charleston fringe and the rhythm of Baroque patterns.” The hanging pen light is also available in a smaller pendant version as well as a table lamp, and all three are available in a range of colors that vary depending on the type of pens used. The chandelier can be constructed from either orange or clear pens, although we much prefer the shining reflections cast by the translucent fixture.

Recycled Cardboard Playhouse Makes A Great Gift Idea for Niece

Posted: 12 Feb 2011 11:00 AM PST

I recently purchased a playhouse for my 3 year old niece and she absolutely (and completely) loved it.

The cool thing about this playhouse is that it’s made entirely out of cardboard. You can color it, open doors and windows, add your name via the door nameplate and even add a mailbox. It did the trick as a toy, plus what three year old is going to notice that it isn’t an expensive four hundred dollar playhouse. Hopefully not too many. Ha!

If you have a young niece or nephew and seek out an earth-friendly, inexpensive and fun toy consider the cardboard playhouse which can be found at your local CVS. They’ll love it.

No Sew NES Controller Wallet

Posted: 12 Feb 2011 10:07 AM PST

Here is another DIY re-use idea for you. You may have seen it already as a pillow or perhaps a phone case but this time you can actually use a NES controller and convert into a handy wallet for use. The no sew NES Controller wallet is as simple as it gets, potentially drawing attention and jealousy from people who see it once you reach out for it from your pockets.

This wallet can actually be crafted on your own. Though it may be a bit hard on the pocket, rather than letting those old NES controllers stock in piles, put it to good use and start a fashion trend for the gaming geeks.

Many parties, dinners and romantic excursions will be happening this weekend because of Valentine’s Day.

There are so many things we can all do to be just a tad more earth friendly, such as the food we eat, the lighting we use, the decorations we buy and so on. Which brings me to these cute Valentine’s themed cupcake wrappers made from recycled paper and printed on soy ink.

Aside from being absolutely adorable, they will also mark your party, dinner or celebration as more environment-friendly. Get a few and dress up your evening in sweet eco style.

Eco-friendly Beer Carriers

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 11:21 PM PST

Here is a basic way to make sure that your pooch doesn't go around missing especially during the night. With a LED Dog Collar, never worry about losing your pooch in the night thanks to this device's illumination.

The LED dog collar is powered by 3 AAA batteries but is in the testing stages for now. With that in mind, techies and people who may want to take it up a notch can improvise with it eventually. This includes possibly adding GPS or some tracking device to make sure that you are on alert and aware where you dog may be wandering off to.

Trade In Your AT&T iPhone for $200

Posted: 11 Feb 2011 06:38 PM PST

With the new Verizon iPhone 4 out today and many making the switch from At&T, why not consider selling or recycling your used mobile.

eBay is making those with an iPhone 3Gs (or newer model) an offer they can’t refuse. They will buy the phone from you and send $200 bucks your way. Why? My guess is they plan to either re-sell the phone for more money or recycle it.

Is this a good deal? It can be if you don’t have the time or energy to try and get more for your used iPhone 3Gs, on your own via Craigslist or Facebook. Simply send in the phone to eBay and then get cash back. I’m assuming your mobile has to be in working order and contain the necessary accessories for the $200 offer to be valid. I doubt they will accept a broken phone and send you two hundred dollar bills. Look into the fine print to see if you qualify.

*Keetsa does not sell, rent, trade or buy cell phones – eBay does (see link below)
