Lamp That Tweets Made from Recycled Plastic Bottle Ends Posted: 07 Feb 2011 04:58 PM PST Not only is this decorative piece of lamp eco friendly, it also sends out tweets. Designer Sarah Turner has turned hundreds of bottle end caps (562 to be exact) into a lamp like no other. To say a lamp tweets is quite comical, but it does just that via the connected LED’s inside. Sarah's stunning piece is formed with 562 reused bottle ends, each one hand cut and attached to each other gradually building into a spherical shape. Each bottle end holds an LED inside, which also connects to Twitter.  When certain words were tweeted, such as "recycling" and "ocean", the Twitter Ball flashes in different colors. As part of the installation, the lamp was recently streamed live in action so that visitors to the website could view the tweet-reactions happening. Credit goes to designer Philip Pearce in coming up with a handset that can reportedly recharge itself inside 30 seconds. Called the Flexiphone design, this self-charging phone comes in vivid colors and makes use of an organic battery to recharge. NEC technology is used for high speed charging and the body is waterproof and comes with a touch screen as well.
