| Posted: 21 Jan 2011 12:14 PM PST ![]() Here is a great idea as far as lighting docks or waterfront streets. Rather than use electricity, the Flowlight concept makes use of tidal power to be juiced up and render some lighting in the affected places. The concept makes use of tidal drop extension arm and has a submerged tidal turbine that rises and falls according to the height of the water it is deployed in. This means that the device can effectively generate power in either high tide or low tide, while also avoiding the risk of damage or the need for constant manual adjustment. In the event of power shortages, the lights have a built in battery and daylight sensor that allow them to turn off or on automatically depending on light conditions. Need Green Web Hosting? | Posted: 21 Jan 2011 12:12 PM PST ![]() Mailbags or messenger bags normally used by your usual mailman may be familiar and for the ones who throw away, old mailbags can indeed be a great new fashion accessory if used the right way. It took the ingenious mind of Jessica Park to think of using these old bags and recycle them into some rich textured icon which can surely be something to use. The handbags are surprisingly redolent of their ancestors' look and feel, but because Jessica reshapes the textiles with modern sensibilities in mind they also succeed as modern luxury carryalls simultaneously. | Electronic Eco-Friendly Rickshaws from Japan Posted: 20 Jan 2011 11:23 PM PST ![]() Eco-friendly Rickshaws were seen sometime last year and now we see another one coming all the way from Japan. Slashgear presented the said eco-friendly vehicle, electric-powered and called the Meguru. This is a three-wheeled invention that can reportedly travel as fast as 25MPH. This does not include speeds when batteries are in use. The Yodogawa Group is the brains behind this contraption together with three other Japanese companies to deliver this environmental-conscious car. This vehicle measures 8-ft 2-in long, 3-ft 11-in wide, and 5-ft 3-in tall. The body of the vehicle is coated in a beautiful red lacquer, the floor is made with recycled bamboo, and the retractable fans on the sides are made of washi paper. The Meguru will cost around 1 million YEN or about $12,044. Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. Electronic Eco-Friendly Rickshaws from Japan Related posts |
| The SUB G1 Three-Wheeled Wonder Posted: 20 Jan 2011 11:22 PM PST Getting ideas from a car and a motorcycle and binding them into one idea may produce various results and here is one that should be interesting. The SUB G1 is a three-wheeled wonder that was designed by Jay Brett. It combines motorcycle and technology to offer a soothing driving experience for people seeking future and alternative mode of transport. The said vehicle was made using two wheels on the front axle while the third wheel keeps the G1's backside from scraping the ground. The headlights rest in the nose like front of the G1 with the indicators attached near the front wheels. The SUB G1 is a one-seater that could really be a given the thumbs up for the people who want to get a feel of F1-like driving. Unfortunately, its limitation of being able to accommodate only 1 person seems to be a problem and it seems while it does offer faster transport, fuel consumption wasn't even mentioned.
