Solar powered watches are nothing new and what is perhaps interesting is how they are designed and made to function. A French designer has come up with a cool looking design for a solar-powered watch, a timepiece that features the solar panel prominently in the center of the watch.

The Solaris V1 watch shows time using LEDs with the hours on the perimeter of the design in blue, while the five-minute groups are shown in the same location in purple. Single minutes are shown on the cross bars in the center. The LEDs on the watch make it seem like an electronic bracelet which should be neat for people going after futuristic looks.

Volt Solar Charger for the iPhone from GSLO

GSLO has been a company that has been aggressively buying rights for some interesting gear in the U.S. Among those gadgets include the Volt Solar Charger made for the iPhone where GSLO has reportedly gotten exclusivity to distribute the said solar charger all over North America.

The Volt Solar Charger was actually made by XSE. The charger is an external battery pack that fits onto an iPhone and helps extend the battery life by using a solar charger attached on the outside of the case. The battery inside can also be charged by using a USB cable for longer runtime with the solar panel helping to keep the battery topped off.

No word yet on when GSLO plans to release the Volt Solar Charger. No word on actual pricing either.

Portola Hotel and Spa Gets LEED Silver Rating

The key towards achieving something like eco-friendliness could be easier done when the proper organization comes forth to help you out. And for Portola Hotel and Spa, the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) help should be something that will point them in that direction.

Actually, the Portola Hotel and Spa has just completed an extensive "greenovation" that earned them a coveted LEED Silver rating for its existing buildings. To date, there are only six hotels in the U.S. which have obtained the same level of rating.

This should speak well for the Portola Hotel and Spa which will hopefully entice other hotels to follow their lead and become more eco-friendly.
