| Electric-Powered Rolls Royce out by the 2012 Olympics? Posted: 11 Jan 2011 09:46 AM PST ![]() Supposedly out by the end of 2010, the wait for the electric-powered Rolls Royce continues. This was supposedly for an electric-powered Phantom Rolls Royce and now we have rumors that the company is once again in the midst of making one. While the current Phantom model reportedly does 15 miles to the gallon, the call for alternative-powered vehicles is still a given. If the schedule goes accordingly, we may see one by the time the 2012 Olympics unfolds. But if you still have some of those old vinyl records lying around, here is an alternative one for you, a turntable made from recycled motorcycle parts. The piece was made possible by some industrial designers at the Birmingham institute of Art and Design where motorcycle parts were the base materials used. The gorgeous turntable by British designer Richard Underhill is one of the highlights, and it features a cylinder head as the disc platter and a motorcycle brake part in the needle arm.
