| Eco Traction New Substitue for Road Salt Posted: 07 Dec 2010 12:57 PM PST With the cold weather comes wind, snow and of course ice. Many cities and road pavers use salt to control this ice and or remove it. But this salt can also be hazardous to pets, plants, people and cars. It’s corrosive and not earth-friendly at all. This is why a company in Ireland has come out with a new ice melter product called Eco Traction which is a salt substitute that is eco friendly and free from harsh chemicals. It’s made from a safe but effective volcanic mineral which will not cause harm. Available online for both businesses and consumers, see Eco Traction in action via the video above. | Rent A Christmas Tree, Instead of Buying One Posted: 07 Dec 2010 11:15 AM PST As the Care 2 blog has pointed out today in an article, one of the few options not discussed regularly in green sites is the option of renting. When you rent something you’re essentially passing it on, not consuming and not purchasing. You borrow for a limited time, someone else gets to borrow when you return the item, and it goes on from there. It’s a recycling circle of its own. Why buy a Christmas tree each year when you can rent one instead, a big bright lovely one. Maybe even a living tree. What you want to do is seek out a local Christmas tree farm and find one that rents out their trees and then check their fee and delivery policy. It might not be expensive at all, in fact it might be very similar to what you normally would spend on a brand new tree, you will just discard the following year. Obviously throwing out your tree every year is not a price conscious activity. This year try renting (instead of buying) your beloved Christmas tree and see how it goes. via Care 2 Blog Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. | Hertz Electric Car Rentals Now Available Posted: 07 Dec 2010 10:24 AM PST ![]() It was only a matter of time before the electric vehicle hoopla would be made into a business and Hertz may soon be doing so. While we all know how expensive these electric vehicles are, Hertz seems to have invested in them already, announcing they will soon be offering them in New York. Among the electric cars up for rent include the Smart Electric Drive, Nissan LEAF and CODA Sedan. Customers can actually sign up as early as today to be the first one to try them out. This will mark the first phase of their electric car rental business where Hertz will reportedly also set up some charging stations at their different rental locations. Unfortunately there is no word yet on how much they would put these cars up for rent. Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. | The Tim Hawkinson Sherpa Motorcycle Posted: 07 Dec 2010 10:23 AM PST ![]() Bikes would normally be better off if they were lightweight but that means doing away with some cool designs and paraphernalia. However it seems that with the Tim Hawkinson Sherpa Motorcycle, all that is bound to change. With some creative and artistic mixes, this is one concept bike that should mislead you. This charming design may be more geared towards bikers who don't always like the grungy rocker look and just want to cruise through the roads in style and flair. | Christmas Tree Made With Shopping Carts Posted: 07 Dec 2010 10:10 AM PST Have you seen the Christmas tree made with dozens of shopping carts? The tree stands over 30 feet tall and is comprised of 86 shopping carts all held together via an internal metal structure. However the way the artist has it set up, it looks like the shopping carts are all suspended in air and held together by their own might. The shopping cart Christmas tree is located (and can be viewed) in California and we’re sure is quite a sight to behold. via Inhabitat Need Green Web Hosting?
