Cute Solar Powered Christmas Lights for the Home

Posted: 29 Nov 2010 05:18 PM PST

One of the first things to go up for the holidays in most homes is outdoor Christmas lights.

They’re fun, cheery and bring about the Holiday spirit in any community. Especially when they’re eco friendly as well. Go to Google, type in “solar powered Christmas lights” and you’ll be greeted with no less than 378,000 results. That’s alot of lights. The particular type we found and is pictured above comes from online retail giant Amazon, these come in packs of 50 and are ready to be hung from your home.

Just hang throughout and let the Sun do its job, at dusk the LED light bulbs come on automatically and brighten up your holiday home.

Compact Camcorder Powered By The Sun

Posted: 29 Nov 2010 04:47 PM PST

With the Holidays upon us many will want to capture the memories at dinner and or parties with a camcorder.

Although many now use their cell phones to capture video, there is still demand for good old fashioned camcorders that record in HD and have a bigger viewfinder than a cell phone camera. Not too mention some eco friendly attributes such as solar power.

We found such a camcorder at Walyou, the tech blog which showcases a solar powered camcorder from Hammecher Schlemmer. This one has a fold out panel which when directed at sunlight will power your compact cam with additional running time, how much depends on how long it’s exposed to the Sun. Approximately an extra 12 minutes per hour of Sun exposure.

May or may not be feasible in today’s age of the all mighty smartphone.

Christmas Microbes Trees for the Holidays

Posted: 29 Nov 2010 02:33 PM PST

Here is an alternative way to uphold the Yuletide spirit. Rather than buy new ornaments to place on your Christmas Tree, check out these Christmas Microbes Tree Ornaments.

They are keen alternatives, and stand to be the only tree in the neighborhood that is done up with microbes like Common Cold, Brain Cell, Kissing Disease, E. Coli, and Amoeba. Though these may not necessarily be the ideal ones you may want for your Christmas theme, the idea is still there.

Besides, they are microbes designed in cuter form and can be yours for only $24.95.

The 5 Minute Hour Glass Shower Timer

Posted: 29 Nov 2010 02:31 PM PST

We are all called upon to save water but unfortunately, we end up waiting for some help. These mostly come in the form of devices to do the trick, something like this 5-minute hour glass shower timer.

Considering anyone could just spend enormous time taking a shower for some refreshing and soothing solace, this is one device that could help limit and make us more aware of our dilapidating water resources.

This hourglass will let you known when it's time to get out of the shower. To use it again, just turn it over, pretty simple. It has a suction cup on the back to stay on your shower wall and it is made out of plastic.

If you want it, it can be yours for only $7.

How To Get Facebook Fans To Recycle for your Brand

Posted: 29 Nov 2010 11:05 AM PST

If you’re looking to start a social media campaign on Facebook to get fans to recycle for you, have a look at what Pepsi is doing.

image via BearCatX on Flickr

The soda pop company is enlisting fans via a Recycle app that aims to get Pepsi lovers to recycle their cans and bottles. Essentially you LIKE the page on Facebook and then make a promise to drop off your Pepsi can or bottle in one of their strategically placed recycling bins. Not only do Pepsi drinkers get to make the planet greener but they also earn rewards by referring friends and being a top 100 recycler.

So lesson learned is to create a fun (and viral) incentive to get others involved in your recycling crusade (or any crusade). Make it fun, make it memorable and make it passable from one person to the next.
