Illamasqua’s Art of Darkness Collection Launches

Illamasqua Art of DarknessToday, Illamasqua's Art of Darkness Fall 2010 collection has officially launched online, and come the 16th, will launch at your closest Illamasqua counter. According to their press release, "A feast for the eyes, the Art of Darkness collection is a sumptuous selection of jewel-like shades for eyes, lips, nails and body. From ruby reds to sapphire blues and emerald greens, accompanied by antique golds, this mythical array of lavish tones is as intense as it is opulent. Indulge your extravagant side and revel in the otherworldliness of night-time make-up". The collection is packed with their signature dramatic, high-impact shades and highly coveted nail varnishes...where else can you find deep blue lipstick (entitled "Disciple") and ruby metallic multi-use cream? The shade names all fit in with the dark theme- "Scarab", "Hermetic" and "Abyss" to name a few- and the accompanying campaign editorial is wild. Check out the full range of products here and let us know what you think of the collection in the comments! Will you be buying?

Preen Spring Summer 2011

Preen's Spring Summer 2011 collection merged luxury and wearability with a weightless, airy aesthetic. Justin Thorton and Thea Bregazzi departed from the sculpted, structured look that they have used in past seasons in favour of light, floaty silhouettes. Pieces included oversized masculine jackets paired with feminine peplum skirts and trousers. The colour palette was made up of greys, beige, cream, black and blue.

Nicola Formichetti to take over at Thierry Mugler

Nicola Formichetti Thierry mugler creative director 241x300It's been confirmed that Vogue Hommes Director, Nicola Formichetti will join Thierry Mugler as the label's new creative director.

With reference to his new role, Nicola said: "Thierry Mugler is about the power of glamour and walking straight into the future. He's been a god for successive generations in the fashion industry. He fused pop and high fashion, told a story in style and combined fantasy with reality. My approach is personal and always very eclectic. I'd like to find new ways for a luxury brand such as Thierry Mugler to excite people." As Nicola is also Lady Gaga's stylist, I guess this means Lady Gaga will be wearing a lot more Thierry Mugler.

Alexa Chung for Madewell

The highly anticipated Alexa Chung for Madewell collection is finally for sale, but not for long! The 25-piece collection, which consists of graphic tees, blouses, vintage-style smock dresses, jackets and jeans, is sure to sell out quickly as her legions of fashionista fans flock to buy the pieces. The collection has Alexa written all over it; Feminine little dresses with peter pan collars and menswear-inspired jackets, urban-chic skinny jeans with old-school fisherman knit sweaters...contrasting pieces that reflect her aesthetic. Alexa's style is laid-back urban with a pinch of girly, a sprinkle of retro and a good dose of Englishness, elements which are present throughout the collection. Get your hands on it while you still can! Alexa Chung for Madewell.

Posh at New York Fashion week

Everyone's favorite WAG, ex-Spice Girl and British Fashion Awards nominee Victoria Beckham just unveiled her Spring 2011 collection at New York Fashion Week. Although the collection featured many of Posh's signature streamline, super-flattering tailored looks, there were also flowy draped pieces in purples and nudes for a lighter Spring style. With pops of canary yellow, asymetrical necklines and a distinct lack of accessories, overall the feel was minimal, futuristic, and very feminine. The makeup was reminiscent of Miu Miu AW10, especially on Lindsey Wixon who did both the Miu Miu campaign and walked in Victoria's show; Pastel purple eyeshadow all the way up to the brows, nude lips and slicked hair. Posh also kept her promise not to use "size-0" models in her show, and Kristy Kaurova and Amanda Laine were a few of the models to share the catwalk with Lindsey. Come Spring, you can expect to be seeing a lot of these pieces worn by her growing celebrity clientele. Overall a strong collection, but a collection consisting almost entirely of dresses...one wonders if Victoria Beckham will branch out into seperates in her next.  By Emma Freed

Victory for Fashion Bloggers at NYFW

AUDREY NYFWAudrey Kitching is known for being pretty, petite, and, well, pink. Her signature cotton candy tresses tend to get her noticed, but not always appreciated. The multitalented model, fashion blogger and designer frequently lands "Worst Dressed" lists on the L.A. red carpets with her quirky granny-meets-stripper style, but on day three of New York Fashion Week, Audrey made The Cut's "25 Most Stylish People" list. Movin' on up, Audrey! She wore Alice + Olivia shoes, a Chanel bag, vintage dress and skirt by Beauty is Pain. Fellow fashion bloggers who made the list include the notorious Bryan Boy and Sarah Sebastian. Check out Audrey's blog here and her shop her signature line, Tokyolux.
