Posted: 28 Aug 2010 10:48 PM PDT ![]() A CFL bulb is already an eco-friendly creation on its own but adding an infrared motion sensor all the more makes it interesting. The bulb apparently turns off after it senses some movement which should help churn down your electric bill. A couple of settings dials allow you to program how long the bulb will stay on for, from 10 seconds to 5 minutes, or specify one of 5 different luminance levels when it's activated. The bulb is rated for 8,000 hours of use and presumably, the motion sensor can be switched off when you need it to stay on. They retail for about $25 each. Need Green Web Hosting? Boxes Made Out of Old Circuit Boards Posted: 28 Aug 2010 12:45 AM PDT ![]() Here is an idea for you, although you may need a lot of resourcefulness and imagination to make one if you intend to on your own. These are stunning looking boxes made from old circuit boards made by New York Artist Theo Kamecke. Using the metal traces as a wood artist would do for wood veneer, these metal traces are cut up and matched with mirror image parts to create the alluring patterns. In addition to the boxes, Kamecke has also created larger works including cabinets and chests. A cool idea to perhaps aid in the process of properly disposing of e-waste or in this case, recycling them into something useful and artistic. Need Green Web Hosting?
