| Beer Bottles Turned into Jewelry? Posted: 16 Aug 2010 10:49 AM PDT One of the best ways to recycle is to re-use, taking something that has reached its natural end of life and giving it an entirely new spin. That is what Kathleen Plate from Smart Jewelry did with the very popular product of beer bottles. She takes discarded beer bottles and turns them into all sorts of funky, beautiful and eco friendly jewelry. Everything from necklaces to bracelets and beyond, keep in mind each one is made from used beer bottles that would have ended up in a local landfill.

| New Fabric Is Made From Old Casette Tapes Posted: 16 Aug 2010 10:16 AM PDT Isn’t it great when you read about cool new products made from old materials? Case in point is a new textile fabric made from old cassette tapes. A designer by the name of Alyce Santoro came up with the idea and also created the product. Essentially the cassette tape film can be turned into fabric sheets and this strong durable fabric can be used to make throw pillows, rugs, clothing and much more.
Some of the goods available now online at Sonic Fabric are neckties made from the recycled fabric and designed in collaboration with Julio Cesar. You can also request the cassette tape fabric by the yard for your own DIY projects. via 1 800 Recycling Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. | Grand Canyon Begins Comprehensive Recycling Program Posted: 16 Aug 2010 09:33 AM PDT The Grand Canyon known for its back to nature atmosphere and earth friendly appeal, has gone even greener. It recently instituted a recycling program to divert waste into other goods that can be reused right at the park, including glass which after recycled is turned into asphalt.
I have to admit I was surprised to read that the Grand Canyon with over a million visitors annually, didn’t have recycling in place till now, but better late than never. Kudos! via 1800 Recycling Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. Grand Canyon Begins Comprehensive Recycling Program Related posts |
| Your Feet Power Up This New Coaster in Japan Posted: 15 Aug 2010 06:18 PM PDT From the “too cool for school” department, comes this new Japanese roller coaster that is powered by humans. The coaster literally moves up and down side to side by those who ride it, as in foot power. In other words, how fast you go is up to you, my friend. But in all seriousness, this coaster is essentially carbon free since it has no motors or electricity behind it. Just don’t expect any major thrills in the speed department, but what is cool and could easily produce some fantastic thrills is the height.
The planet friendly coaster seems like it’s built up quite high, which could make for some great views of the city. via Greenopolis Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. Your Feet Power Up This New Coaster in Japan Related posts |
