Real Tattoo Tees

Custom Tattoo T-ShirtIf you love tattoos but are something of a coward when it comes to facing the needle, or like me have been put off by the elderly on the beach sporting 50 year old blue smears and blobs that used to be tattoos, then you need the customized tattoo shirt service from Curiology. Curiology is a funky little company founded by visual artist Alie Ward, originally from San Francisco, she’s now established in Los Angeles and well known for both her apparel line and her paintings.

Mainly Alie Ward paints, her Dichotomy series is very hot, she’s sold work and completed commissions for many clients in San Francisco and Hollywood, including several high profile celebrities. But more recently she’s established the Curiology apparel line, which features her original, customizable tattoo designs. What’s great about these unique tees as that they hand painted, each and everyone is truly unique and painted by a highly successful contemporary artist.

Here’s the blurb from the site: “Hand painted, customized, vintage-modelled tattoo shirts. Whomever or whatever you hold dear, just say the word, and we’ll help you tell the world. If you’ve got some love to show, but lack the resolve necessary to ink it into your flesh, Curiology’s vintage-modelled tattoo shirt is just the ticket. Our old-school tattoo design is silk-screened on a 100% cotton jersey shirt, and at your behest, we hand-letter the love of your choosing.”

Essentially the idea is to buy one tee for your partner and one for yourself emblazoned with each other’s names. They all seem to be heart tattoos right now – where are the skulls and nekkid ladies? Still there’s nothing stopping you getting a tattoo tee for yourself featuring say your fave sports team or city or whatever you fancy.

Damn that’s a lot of PR! Looks like I’m slow on the uptake again, still I always get there in the end ;) If you fancy getting one or two of these unique hand-painted shirts they’re $48 each and available in a men and women’s sizes across the board.

It might seem a bit much for a t-shirt but thinking about it you’d pay a damn sight more even for a print let alone an original artwork by this artist.

It’s a really cool idea as far as I’m concerned, way better than most of the romantic guff shops sell out there, you never know, matching custom painted tattoo tees might even replace the wedding ring one day. Joke!
