| Posted: 15 May 2010 07:26 AM PDT ![]() This new zero-emission unmanned aerial vehicle may seem like a toy but it is really a model hybrid drone meant to showcase the future of aviation. It makes use of an electric motor which should be one reason why it runs silently and is powered by a fuel cell. This hybrid drone took off for 15 minutes at up to 100kph at an altitude of less than 300 meters for starters, and did it without emitting a single iota of carbon dioxide emissions. It took the National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan $15,822 to build one and tipped the scales at 22kg and measuring nearly 2 meters long while producing 1KW of power. A bit expensive but a common price for new technology. Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. Related posts |

However, the only thing this aircraft has different from the traditional ones is that it runs on hydrogen power. In this design concept, the aircraft’s hydrogen fuel is synthesized from water drawn from a nearby river. That fuel is pumped to the awaiting jets, refueling as they perch high atop their mid-21st-century runways, which now look more like elegantly-designed platforms. Need Green Web Hosting?
