Wall Clock Made from Recycled Chalkboards

wall clock made from recycled chalkboard

In Quincy, Illinois an elementary school donates old chalkboards to artists who turn them into cool wall clocks.

The wall clocks are fully functional and feature a reclaimed wood slate, one battery and a saw tooth wall-mounting bracket.

Handmade from chalkboards from Franklin Elementary School in Quincy, Illinois, this clock’s blank face encourages you to write in numerals, appointments or relive your detention days: “I will not pass notes. I will not pass notes.”

Coffee Table Made From A Recycled Gym Floor

wood from recycled gym floor

In Wisconsin, a school gym was remodeled and guess what they did with the wood floor?

Perfect for when the whole team gets together, this long and slender coffee table is hand crafted in Wisconsin from the maple floor of Kendigan Gym, home of the Lumberjacks.

The used wood was turned into a series of furniture pieces, including the table pictured above and other items. The top of the table though is not finished, so it has quite a rustic look to it. Not sure why it wasn’t refinished. The recycled gym floor table would certainly be a conversation piece in your home, just not sure it would be a good conversation.

swap for good party

Swap for Good is a non-profit trading website which as the name implies facilitates the friendly swapping of goods. But the premise behind the site is also about helping domestic violence women get back on their feet.

How?

The swaps are set up so that those who participate donate money to a domestic violence shelter. So not only do those who join a Swap for Good party walk away with cool new digs or accessories from friends, they also get to help out local women.

Definitely a fun way to help out those in need. If you’ve ever attended one, share with us below how it went.
