| Piezoelectric Power from Shoes Posted: 03 May 2010 06:15 PM PDT ![]() Making use of kinetic energy, here are some piezoelectric shoes which draws its power from embedded piezoelectric generators embedded on shoes. They are placed in the soles of the shoes to produce enough power to operate GPS receivers, location tags and eventually, even a cell phone. The shoe generator uses a low-cost polymer transducer with metalized surfaces for electrical contact. The shoes and technology were developed by Dr. Ville Kaajakari. Need Green Web Hosting? | Posted: 03 May 2010 06:13 PM PDT ![]() The Solar City Tower was meant to serve the coming 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro. This is a huge solar-powered waterfall standing 105m over sea level. This tower is tasked to supply enough energy to help make the Games carbon-neutral. The Solar City Tower is expected to produce more than enough power from sunlight where the excess would be used to pump seawater into reservoirs at the top of the structure. This could then be emptied down through turbines at night and used to create even more electricity. The eye-catching waterfall feature would only be for "special occasions". Need Green Web Hosting?
