They are placed in the soles of the shoes to produce enough power to operate GPS receivers, location tags and eventually, even a cell phone. The Solar City Tower Posted: 03 May 2010 06:13 PM PDT The Solar City Tower was meant to serve the coming 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro. This is a huge solar-powered waterfall standing 105m over sea level. This tower is tasked to supply enough energy to help make the Games carbon-neutral. The Solar City Tower is expected to produce more than enough power from sunlight where the excess would be used to pump seawater into reservoirs at the top of the structure. This could then be emptied down through turbines at night and used to create even more electricity. The eye-catching waterfall feature would only be for "special occasions".
