Product Review: Code.ai Lash and Brow Enhancers

Posted: 27 Apr 2010 07:59 AM PDT

Bionic Bronnie recently tested out two of Code.ai’s new Brow and Eyelash enhancing serums. Read about her results below!

Code.ai’s Brow Boosting Shaper
In short- it really works! I have had a couple scars in my brow line for years; which has never allows me to properly shape them. The hair just wouldn’t grow back. The Code.ai Brow Boosting serum is amazing! Kudos to the company and ingenious scientists that created this formula.

Here’s how you use it: Apply it to your brows, faithfully, twice a day. Within two weeks I was noticing some changes… by four weeks, I had hair filling in those scars and blank spots! Never in a million years would I have believed a product would fix those empty spots.

I was happy to find out that its paraben-free (which are all-natural preservatives and not the to-be-feared chemicals many people believe they are, but that’s a *whole* ‘nother article!), not tested on animals, non-irritating, hypoallergenic, and has no harmful side effects (unlike Latisse’s hormone based formula). It uses a unique “Myriplex Technology” which contains a lipo-peptide amplifying complex. I read many testimonials written by cancer patients and even turned two of my neighbors, who are cancer patients, into fans.

The Brow Boosting serum stays in place, is clear, and comes with a mascara spooley applicator. I love it and have nothing bad that I can say. This is one of the neatest products that I have discovered and am truly happy to be able to share the results with all of our fellow Bionic Beauties!

Code.ai’s Lash Extend Serum (L-117)
These products are so similar, one review really covers both products- the basic difference? One is for your lashes, the other is for your brows.

The Lash Extend Serum is a bit more difficult to apply. It needs to go right into the hair growth area of the lashline and is applied with a small brush, it takes time and patience. However, if you are used to applying liquid or gel eyeliners, this is pretty much the same technique. It seemed to take about two weeks longer to really notice it working, but one day I used a good mascara and my lashes were so long they touched my eyelids when I opened them fully. Happy EEK! It also darkened and thickened them!

I found that if I poked myself in the eye (oops!) with the soft brush or applied it inside of the lash line, it did slightly burn my eyes, but it didn’t last long and it’s clearly stated that you shouldn’t get it in your eyes! I was also using a smaller tester version, so I imagine the full size one is easier and faster to use. Both are the size of a mascara and very portable.

The Code.ai website (www.codeai.com) is full of information and testimonials. I’ve found both products for sale on a few different websites. The full size containers would probably last a very long time as even the small sample containers lasted me a full month.

There is one more product made by code.ai called Lash Extend Primer L-122 which I hope to have to chance to share the results with you as well.

This is one of the most exciting new product breakthroughs I have seen in the cosmetics industry and I will continue to use them. There are so many lash and brow growth, plumping, and stimulating products on the market right now and I am very happy to find one that works and is safe! I honestly feel overwhelmed when trying to research and choose one that is worth the money and delivers results- so I hope this review helps you sort through all the offerings!

Beauty.comBionic Beauty reviews Code ai's Lash and Brow enhancing serums offers the Brow serum for $75 and the Lash Extend Serum for $115.

Do you agree? TB’s Bargain Beauty Buys

Posted: 27 Apr 2010 06:33 AM PDT

I know sometimes we like to browse Total Beauty’s latest articles and chat about whether we agree or disagree with their “beauty lists”. One of their latest caught my eye- “Best Beauty Bargain Buys”.

So, check them out, and let me know if you agree with their list.

I’ll start things off- I definitely don’t agree with the Clairol Perfect 10 hair color being listed. I know their TV ads say that color has won all sorts of awards. Really?!? Who decided those awards? Because readers here on Bionic Beauty have been reporting scalp breakouts, immediate color loss, and oily residue. Doesn’t sound like a bargain to me. I’d much rather go for one of the other drugstore brands or Ion Color from Sally Beauty (plus Ion color is ever CHEAPER than drugstore hair color!!).

And I definitely love that L’Oreal’s EverPure UV Protect spray was listed. That hair care line beats most every salon brand hands down and with room to spare!

Bionic Boondoggle: Sales galore, a grand opening & real life Powerful Beauty

Posted: 26 Apr 2010 06:35 PM PDT

bionic-beauty-grand-opening

Heading to a salon Grand Opening!

While it looks like not much happened on Bionic Beauty today, I’ve been working behind-the-scenes since 8am. Hopefully you all will benefit from the upgrades soon. I’m working on an improved navigation bar so everyone can find articles related to a specific topic in an easier and quicker manner. Also in the plans- a FAQ page and a page listing the most-popular tutorials. I’m open to other suggestions to improve Bionic Beauty, just leave your thoughts in the comments.

Now, let’s get down to a Bionic Boondoggle! For those of you who don’t know what a Bionic Boondoggle is… it’s basically a mash-up of wonderful things that caught my eye recently.

First up… the sales!

  • Get a FREE $5 gift card from e.l.f. cosmetics with a $20 purchasee.l.f. cosmetics and makeup gift card coupon code! Just use coupon code CINCO when you checkout.
  • From now through April 30th, get 25% off your entire purchase plus get FREE standard ground shipping at Sally Beauty’s website25% off coupon code for Sally Beauty supply!! Enter promo code 555919 at checkout. I know I’ll be stocking up on Ion Color Brilliance hair color! I just wish I could use this in their brick n’ mortar stores as well, but I guess we can’t have all our wishes granted.
  • YBF Skincare is celebrating their 3 year partnership with The Skin Care Shop. Between now and June 1st, YBF is giving away over $1500 of their incredible skin care products via Twitter! Head over to the YBF website for the giveaway schedule and learn how to enter!

From around the web

  • Mo at Mythbuster Beauty got her hands on MAC’s new Stacked Crushed Metal Pigments and created a very pretty makeup look! For non-MAC peeps (me included), I’m not sure what that fancy-dancy name means, but I think they are powdered shimmery eye shadows. *wink*
  • I’ve long been a fan of Kristarella for her awesome web design skills and extremely helpful tutorials. She’s pretty much my blogging idol. Recently she posted an article chronicling her weight loss that I felt should be shared. It was so open and real – she definitely qualifies as a Powerful Beauty in my book!
  • One of my fave indie makeup lines, Purely Cosmetics is exhibiting at the IMATS makeup show in LA on June 26th and 27th. If you’re going to be in the area, please stop by the PC booth and tell Robyn I said “Howdy!”. I really wish I could go. Alas, some day… maybe.

And last, an explanation for my picture- this weekend, I got dazzled up to attend a friend’s salon/spa grand opening in trendy SoBe. So that’s me playing grown-up-prom-night. Fun times!

Now it’s your turn to Boondoggle! Have you spotted a funny video, or a quote you love, or a moo-lah saving sale? Did you do something extremely fun or meaningful this week? If so, please share!
