MSNBC has put out a list of top 10 eco products for 2009. And guess who made the cut? The Kindle!

The ebook reader from Amazon is poised to make a BIG splash this holiday season as many a book lover have it on their Christmas wish lists. And the Kindle is one sustainable inspired gadget. The eco benefits of a digital book reader come in the form of saved space, saved paper, saved ink, and saved transport from wireless downloads of books.

With just one Kindle reading device you can hold up to 1,500 books. Now that is a major bookworm delight.

Sharp to Develop Own Green Paint

We have been hearing the clamor for the use of eco-friendly paint. And taking their cue from the highly successful Eneloop, it looks like Sharp is taking it a notch higher. This time around they are planning to develop eco-friendly paint from discarded glass during the manufacture of LCD panels which will be used in aluminum parts of future LED lighting.

WIth this new eco-friendly paint, the painting process supposedly reduces 2/3 of coating time and also approximately 40% of film thickness which enhances efficiency, helping one save resources and energy.

Sanyo To Unveil Solar Electric Vehicle

Sanyo is scheduled to present its solar electric vehicle at the Eco Products 2009 International Exhibition at Tokyo. The vehicle needs only 16 hours to charge and half if charged via 100 volt AC outlet. The Sanyo Solar Powered Vehicle will be equipped with solar panels and lithium ion batteries and for people who happen to be at the exhibition, you will get the chance to test drive the said vehicle as well.

Want to green up your holiday this year, just a bit? Try a LIVE Christmas tree instead of a cut one. A company in California rents and arranges delivery of a live potted Christmas tree.

How To?

You go to their website Living Christmas and choose from five different sized trees, from a 2 footer to an 8 footer and the company delivers the Christmas tree direct to your home. As this is a LIVE tree, it needs plenty of water and will grow slightly while in your home. The company also claims it is safer than petroleum trees because it is less flammable.

But they’re also abit more expensive, to rent the LIVE Christmas trees will set you back between $50 to $180 with free delivery and pick-up after the holidays.
