| Old Lamps Transformed into Oil Lamps Posted: 22 Nov 2009 09:16 PM PST ![]() Everyone knows how vital it is to properly dispose of those old incandescent bulbs since they pose a health hazard if you are not careful. But if you think of it, why bother crushing them and emit all those harmful toxins if you can revert it to something useful like perhaps an oil lamp? This is perhaps one of the many ways we can re-use these old bulbs, a bit sensitive though but at least serving a purpose in a conservative way. They comes in sets of two and are limited edition. | Coke Unveils Eco-friendly Bottle Posted: 22 Nov 2009 09:13 PM PST ![]() Coke has moved from glass to plastic bottles and now it looks like we are in for a green revolution as the famed soft drink company announces the release of bottles made of 30% waste material. The company plans to introduce 2 billion bottles by the end of 2010 which they have calld PlantBottle. It is made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic package and is 100% recyclable. The company’s goal is to use nonfood, plant-based waste, such as wood chips or wheat stalks, to produce recyclable PET plastic bottles and to create a bottle that is made with 100% plant-waste material while remaining completely recyclable. Colin Lin came up with a different kind of concept in the design of shoes, using recycled paper to produce eco-friendly shoes and handbags. These items are said to be hot moving items in Taiwan as well as the U.S. and Europe, a lot of customers of which are eco-friendly minded consumers. A pair of paper shoes takes 3-4 hours to make and sells for $100-150, while a tote bag takes as much as 2-3 days and can go for up to $260. (Source) NPR Need Green Web Hosting? The Enertia is said to be even made from recycled materials as well such as plastic bottles and recycled battery cases. No wonder the bike weighs only 280 lbs. and doesn't emit any toxic emissions!
