They’ve just opened their new online store at www.CockneyEmpire.com and the punters are pouring in, this really will be big, perhaps the most exciting new t-shirt brand this side of the water since Chunk, with one ex-Chunk designer and a ream of great designs under their belt, you have been warned, this is the beginning of the British Invasion! If you want to know more about this fascinating brand then check out my original feature on these guys here. It’s been around 8 months since I first mentioned CE and they’ve been proverbially leaping from strength to strength with another 10 new designs on offer as well as reprints of all their best sellers, you are assured of a treat and a half. There are various collections on offer including Anti Heroes, Pop Art, and Limited Editions. So get down those apples and pears, plonk your plates of meat under the table, and treat your peepers to a feast of London art fashion, the likes of which you’ll not see in a month of Sundays anywhere else in the world. Jackpot Tee
If you fancy a gamble, odds are on that this will leave a smile on your face, vintage stylings featuring gold foil and fleuro print you can’t ask for more when it comes to a tribute to the one-arm bandit. The Jackpot tee is a limited edition tee so I’d get your skates on if this is up your street, look a proper geezer down the arcades next time you’re in Margate and make sure you don’t spend all your pennies, you’ll need a few for a bag of chips and a stick of rock by sundown. Available for £29.99 in sizes S and M. Punk Tee
Are you looking at me? No you’re looking at Cockney Empire’s Punk tee, featuring the venerable Robert De Niro in perhaps his best role over a long a moody film career, Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver. Sure he’s a yank, yes it’s set in NY, but if there ever was an honorary cockney hard nut, it has to be Bob. I love the spliced graphics, sex shop logos flickering by his mind as he drives through the seedier parts of town. Nasty, brooding, superb designer tee, Punk is available for £29.99 in navy - only small sizes left (gulp). Powder Tee
Another American anti-hero, how about something featuring The Kray Brothers or Ronnie Biggs? I mean, I love Scorcese as much as the next guy but let’s have a few more cockneys please! Anyway still a superb tee, Powder features the mean and moody face of Al Pacino, I’m guessing this is in reference to Scarface. Expertly illustrated in ‘powder form’, as they mention at CE the ’street value’ of this tee is £29.99 and is available in sizes S to L. Vinny Tee
The Vinny tee features Cockney Empire’s infamous knuckle duster logo, not sure why it’s called Vinny, unless it’s in reference to old time bruiser Vinnie Jones, footballer, actor (sort of) and general henchman type. Still a great t-shirt, loving the gold foil print, this is a new version of a tee my other half has been begging for, looks like I will have to smash the piggy bank and shell out a few quid for a quiet life. The old version was real smart though, it featured a houndstooth checker print instead of foil, but this one’s strong too. I offered them an Elvis-inspired tee design some while back but the copyright was too too hot, still would have looked lovely in a two-tone foil. Get the Vinny tee for £29.99 in sizes S to XL. Check them all out at www.CockneyEmpire.com, hook up with these geezers via their newsletter or become a fan at Facebook. | |||||
