Google has partnered up with energy company in the UK to provide accurate, real-time energy tracking all across the UK with their new service PowerMeter. The point of this? When people can measure how much energy they use, they can save more energy. Read more over at the Network Blog.

According to Mark Daeche, first:utility's CEO, "At the end of the day, if you can't measure and view your energy use, it's very difficult to make savings."

This is so true, especially since residents can see how much impact they have on their energy bill by turning off unnecessary gadgets and appliances in their house.

Furthermore, this might prove to be a good testing ground for future integration of Google's PowerMeter in the U.S. or other countries.

Conestoga College Turns to Busch Recycling Containers

In an effort to do their part and contribute to the waste management control needs today, Conestoga College is embarking on a "Multi-Recyclers" program led by integrating Busch Systems Recycling Containers which are all custom-designed for academic and apartment recycling. Each classroom has been equipped with these containers in order to easily separate waste and recycling.

The program hopes to establish alternative recycling options for the school and will be employing recycling bins comprised of 35% recycled content that stack easily, in order to simplify separation and collection. This recycling container is ideal for academic environments as a result of its space efficient design, sturdy stacking, easy to clean design and effective collection of over 22 liters (per bin), of sorted recyclables and waste.

Energy Sun-Bags Now Powered by Konarka

Neuber of Germany's line of Energy Sun-Bags will now be powered by Konarka's Power Plastic Solar Panels, further boosting the alternative means of soliciting power for popular gadgets today which include MP3 players, iPods and digital cameras. The Sun-Bags are lightweight bags that have their own battery and solar panel.

They are available in 37 colors and are one of the demanded and lightest solar energy bags in the market today. They retail for $150 in the market and are available at the Neuber website.
