| Brad Pitt Mulls Floating House Concept Posted: 19 Oct 2009 11:25 PM PDT ![]() The "Floating House" idea came from actor Brad Pitt during the post-Katrina New Orleans disaster. And now that the Philippines seems to be technically in the same boat, these floating houses may very well be suited. Pitt and his Make It Right (MIR) foundation are building these floating houses made from eco-friendly materials and it seems that to aid the Filipinos devastated by Typhoon Ondoy, this idea may just work. The floating houses are built with hollow concrete cubes underneath for buoyancy, while electricity and water are pumped through flexible pipes. Each house costs about $310,000. Perhaps the only thing here right now is affordability. Many of the Filipino people practically lost everything. Do I hear the government stepping in? No personal (graft and corruption mindsets) interests please! (Source) News Break Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts.
