| Mezzetta Chooses Veggie Sandwich As Contest Winner Posted: 29 Sep 2009 04:35 PM PDT Mezzetta, the maker of yellow and red peppers and olive products, has an annual contest called MakeThatSandwich which calls for your best sandwich recipe. Ninette Holbrook of Orlando, Florida submitted her creation which is pictured below and consisted of an open-face braised fig and caramelized onions veggie sandwich. Talk about creative! The 2nd annual contest was open to anyone who submitted a recipe and used two Mezzetta products, plus one could enter in three categories: Cold, Hot and Vegetarian.
Ninette entered the veggie category and not only won in that category, but won the whole thing. Her sandwich was the GRAND PRIZE winner and she took home $25,000 along with a trip and tour of Napa Valley. Nice! Think you have what it takes to enter for 2010? | Posted: 29 Sep 2009 02:51 PM PDT Here is a new way of turning waste into fuel resources. The new concept comes from BioFuelBox called the FOG-to-Fuel plant. They are transforming waste FOG from trap grease that produces a premium, low sulfur, ASTM compliant biodiesel for on-road use. As most countries continue to discard billions of grease for the maintenance of sewer systems each year. The NovoStream process was designed to help reduce these problems and eliminate a significant source of GHG. Moreover, BioFuelBox's biodiesel is clean-burning with an 85% reduction in GHG emissions compared to petroleum-based diesel. (Source) Press Need Green Web Hosting? | Posted: 29 Sep 2009 02:48 PM PDT ![]() Hydro Engineering Inc. has bundled its various technologies to come up with a new kind of car washing device that only needs electrical power and water to operate. No water is wasted since used water is recycled through Hydro Engineering's Hydrokleen filtration system for re-use. Here is how it works: The vehicle or equipment is driven up onto the Hydropad wash rack. The Hydropad wash racks equipment wash process. The recycled water is sent to a wash brush used in cleaning the vehicle. A Hydroblaster pressure washer connected to fresh water is used to rinse the recycled water from the car. This adds water to the systems that is lost in the wash process due to evaporation. (Source) Press Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. Related posts |
| Gorgeous Green Home In South Carolina May Get Gold Status LEED Certification Posted: 29 Sep 2009 12:13 PM PDT
A couple has turned their ordinary Cobblestone Park, South Carolina home into an extraordinary green space, coupled with possible gold status LEED certification. No stone was left unturned in the remodel and redesign of the Switzer home. The biggest challenge Mike and Maggie say they had in the idea for their eco friendly home was finding the right architect and builder. But they ended up hiring an architect they had worked with before and off it went. Everything from the usual solar panels on the roof to bamboo floors was added to the home, but also much more. See below some of other cool sustainable features they implemented throughout the home:
They say the home at $590,000 and 4,000 square feet did not end up costing much more than a non-green home in the same area. Plus they’ll save annually on electricity and other utility bills. Well done! The home is scheduled for one of the highest honors in the GREEN building industry, LEED gold status certification. To see more pictures of the Switzer home and to read if and when they get the coveted honor, they have a blog up at Switzer Green Home which you can follow. Be sure to view the pics on the blog or via the link below, it’s a gorgeous home. via The State.com Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. | Recycled Paper Tissue For Holiday Gift Wrapping Posted: 29 Sep 2009 08:54 AM PDT Holidays are coming up soon and some people like to save money by shopping early, and this includes gift wrapping accessories. If you’re looking for eco friendly gift wrap items, take a look below at the recycled paper tissue I found over at Etsy.
The seller describes the gift wrapping tissue paper as 100% recycled, made in the USA and that 30 sheets come in one pack. For shipping she has several options available. Pictured is only black, which is kinda cool. But she does carry other colors as well, per the item description. This might be a great way to green up your holiday purchases this season. Give her shop a try. via Etsy *not available via Keetsa Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. Recycled Paper Tissue For Holiday Gift Wrapping Related posts |
| Posted: 28 Sep 2009 10:12 PM PDT ![]() MaverickLabel.com announces a new kind of eco-friendly initiative with its Trees for Tomorrow program. Under this new gimmick, MaverickLabel.com will plant one tree in honor of every label customer placing an order through the company website. This is a great deal for people who love to shop online. You can find a lot of label products at their site but most importantly, you are helping in the tree restoration efforts, much of which has been lost due to years of irresponsible logging. The initial donation will ensure the planting of thousands of new trees through the end of 2009. (Source) Press Need Green Web Hosting? Check out our latest review of green web hosts. Related posts |
