With New Year practically here, you can imagine the partying going on anywhere in the world. On that note, here is something made just for the occasion which may just help you welcome 2011 the eco-friendly way while partying to boot.

The 2011 Times Square Ball is an ideal alternative that is made of 32,256 LED lights. It was created by Waterford Crystal and Philips Lighting and will be powered by humans thanks to the Duracell Smart Power Lab.

We are all aware how useful and functional Post-Its are but if you want to add a touch of eco-friendliness, here are some coming your way. They are the IE-Tag Sticky Notes, Post-Its which make use of paper that is converted from wood waste.

The IE-Tag Sticky Notes were made by Naruse-Inokama Architects and comes in the shape of familiar homes. For your information, the 'ie' in the name means 'house' in Japanese. Now I just need to figure out how to get my hands on these notepads.

Korea Starts Running Electric Buses

The Seoul Government has kicked off an eco-friendly itinerary, announcing the official operation of electric-powered buses which will pry the Mt. Namsan routes. The operation of these buses started last December 21 and are said to be the first in the world to operate electric-run buses.

SMG has worked on the project to develop full-sized electric buses with local technology over the last one and a half years, since it signed an agreement with Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hankuk Fiber for the development of electric buses in September 2009.

Electric bus services will not only improve air conditions in the city but also lead the technology of large-sized electric vehicles in the global electric car market, the City said.
